What to expect
When you attend our vascular lab, you can expect a calm, professional environment focused on your comfort and care. Your scan will be performed by a specialist vascular sonographer who will take the time to carry out a detailed and accurate examination tailored to your referral. The test is non-invasive and typically involves ultrasound imaging with a small amount of gel applied to the skin.
Most appointments take between 20–45 minutes, depending on the type of study. Following your scan, your results will be carefully reviewed and a comprehensive report will be sent promptly to your referring doctor to guide your ongoing care.
Cost
We have bulk billing available for all vascular ultrasound examinations, helping to minimise out-of-pocket costs for our patients. To facilitate this it may mean splitting scans across visits. In some cases, where multiple studies are required on the same day, a small gap fee may apply.
Our reception team will always inform you of any potential costs at the time of booking or before your appointment so there are no surprises. If you have any questions about fees or eligibility for bulk billing, we encourage you to contact us for clarification.
How to prepare
Preparing for your vascular ultrasound is usually simple and, in most cases, no special preparation is required. You may be asked to wear loose, comfortable clothing or bring a pair of shorts if your legs are being examined, as this helps us perform a thorough and efficient scan.
For some specific studies, such as abdominal scans, you may be asked to fast for a few hours beforehand—any special instructions will be provided at the time of booking. If you are unsure, please feel free to contact our team prior to your appointment and we will be happy to guide you.
Conditions we treat
We specialise in diagnosing a wide range of vascular conditions. This includes issues such as narrowing or blockages in the arteries, aneurysms (weakening of blood vessel walls), and conditions affecting blood flow to the brain, legs, and organs.
We also assess venous conditions, including varicose veins, chronic venous insufficiency, and blood clots (deep vein thrombosis). Our goal is to provide clear, accurate information that helps your doctor diagnose and manage your condition, while giving you a better understanding of your vascular health.

Getting here
Our rooms are located within Northern Beaches Hospital, 105 Frenchs Forest Road (West), Frenchs Forest.
By car, take Frenchs Forest Road, accessible from Warringah Road, Wakehurst Parkway or Forest Way.
Entry to the paid hospital car park is currently via the back entrance which is best accessed from the Warringah Road entry point and then turning immediately left.
Please allow extra time for parking as the hospital is generally quite busy.
By bus, routes 136, 141, 169, 193 and 280 stop directly outside the hospital on Frenchs Forest Road.
